MJ-12 (also Majestic 12, Majic 12) refers to an alleged top-secret committee of twelve scientists, military officers, and government officials reportedly established by President Truman in September 1947 to manage UFO crash recoveries — most prominently the alleged Roswell debris. The narrative is built on a series of documents that surfaced in 1984, purportedly leaked to UFO researcher Jaime Shandera. The FBI examined the documents in 1988 and stated they are "completely bogus." Linguistic and typographic analysis by historians and the National Archives has identified anachronisms and signature inconsistencies that suggest the documents were fabricated in the 1980s. AARO's 2024 Historical Record Report addressed the broader MJ-12 narrative and found no evidence of any such committee in U.S. government records. MJ-12 is not part of PURSUE Release 01.
