The Stephenville UFO incident is one of the best-radar-corroborated modern civilian sightings in the U.S. record. On the evening of 8 January 2008, dozens of witnesses across Erath County, Texas — centered on the town of Stephenville — reported a large bright object with rapidly-changing lights moving silently at high speed. The U.S. Air Force initially denied any military activity in the area, then revised the statement two weeks later to confirm that 10 F-16s from the 457th Fighter Squadron at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth had been on a training exercise. Subsequent FOIA-released FAA radar data showed an unidentified object with no transponder, traveling at high speed on a track that intersected the no-fly zone over the Bush ranch in Crawford. The object's identity remains formally unresolved. Not part of PURSUE Release 01.
