What is the Travis Walton case?

On 5 November 1975, logger Travis Walton was reportedly struck by a beam of light from a hovering disc-shaped object near Snowflake, Arizona, then disappeared for five days. Six co-workers passed polygraph tests when describing the encounter.

The Travis Walton case is one of the most-investigated alleged abduction events in U.S. UFO history. On 5 November 1975, Walton — a 22-year-old logger — was working on a forest-thinning crew in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest near Snowflake, Arizona. According to Walton and his six co-workers, the crew encountered a hovering disc-shaped object glowing yellow-white, and when Walton approached the craft, a blue-green beam of light struck him to the ground. The other six men fled and reported him missing. Walton reappeared five days later in Heber, Arizona, in apparent confusion. Six of the seven witnesses (Walton plus five co-workers) passed polygraph examinations administered by the Arizona Department of Public Safety; the seventh result was inconclusive. The case was the basis for the 1993 film "Fire in the Sky." Not part of PURSUE Release 01.
