What was AAWSAP (the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program)?
“AAWSAP was a $22 million DIA contract awarded in 2008 to Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies for UAP and paranormal research — most controversially including investigations at Skinwalker Ranch in Utah.”
AAWSAP — the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program — was a $22 million U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) contract awarded in 2008 to Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS), an entity owned by businessman Robert Bigelow. AAWSAP operated from 2008 to roughly 2010 and is widely confused with AATIP, although they were technically distinct: AAWSAP was the contract vehicle; AATIP was the DIA's internal program. AAWSAP commissioned 38 Defense Intelligence Reference Documents (DIRDs) on exotic propulsion, warp drives, and "advanced aerospace weapon systems" — most are theoretical physics papers, several authored by Eric Davis. AAWSAP also funded BAASS investigations at Skinwalker Ranch in Utah, examining alleged paranormal phenomena on the property. AARO's 2024 Historical Record Report addressed AAWSAP and concluded no evidence emerged of confirmed extraterrestrial material or reverse-engineering activity from the program.
