What is Skinwalker Ranch?

Skinwalker Ranch is a 512-acre property in northeastern Utah investigated under the Pentagon's AAWSAP program from 2008 to about 2010 for alleged UAP and paranormal phenomena — the program produced no confirmed extraterrestrial evidence.

Skinwalker Ranch is a 512-acre property in the Uintah Basin of northeastern Utah, near the town of Ballard. It became publicly notable after businessman Robert Bigelow purchased the property in 1996 and stood up the National Institute for Discovery Science (NIDS) to investigate reports of UAP, animal mutilations, and other anomalous phenomena alleged on the site. From 2008 to approximately 2010, the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency funded investigations at Skinwalker Ranch through the AAWSAP contract, awarded to Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS). The ranch was sold in 2016 to Adamantium Real Estate, which has continued private investigations and licensed a television series. AARO's 2024 Historical Record Report addressed the federally-funded Skinwalker Ranch work and stated AARO "found no empirical evidence" of any confirmed extraterrestrial or non-human-intelligence material recovered from the property. The ranch is privately owned and closed to the public.
